Snowball Fight

Well it all began as I was about to go to sleep. It was about 1 in the morning. I just finished playing dominoes with Alex and some other people. I was about to call it a night, but before I did that me and my roomate looked out the window. What did we see you ask?

We saw a bunch of St. John's students outside throwing snowballs. We quickly got dressed and and headed down there. My roomate Tony led the attack. It wound up being Donovan Hall aka D-block versus the rest of the St. John's resident village. We started the battle in front of Donovan, but we were able to push the rest of the students back to Hollis. It was a crazy battle.

This snowball fight was very random, but it was a great experience. I wound up meeting so many new people. It brought all of us together. I cannot wait to have another snowball fight like this. It really made me feel like a kid again.

Name

A name is a something that can be very important for a person. It is what defines you and when you accomplish something major, it was people say to identify you with your good work. It sets you and your work apart from others.

My full name would be "Anthony Vincent Fanwick". My last name was handed down to me as in most American families, though my last name origins from England. I do not know anything other than that it origins from England. My first and middle name though are both "America Italian" names. Being my mother is one-hundred percent Italian she chose those two names for me.

For the most part my name tends to be very simple and most people do not have a problem pronouncing them. Sometimes little kids will call me "Aferney" which does not really bother me. It kind of entertains me when I am in a strange mood. There are some adults that do mis-pronounce my last name. It kind of boggles my mind when they do that. They call me "Fenwick" instead of "Fanwick". It doesn't really bother me. I just wonder why they pronounce the "ay" sound as an "eh" sound.

I really like my first name actually. Some people do not like their name, but I enjoy it. It is common enough, so that people do not look at you like you have ten heads when you tell them your name. It is also uncommon enough for there not to be five Anthonys in a classroom. It is right in the middle. I am also glad that it shows my Italian heritage in it.

Have you ever written anything you are proud of?

I have written something that I was proud of. In fact, this piece of writing makes me think everyday of my life. I once was asked by a teacher to write a letter to my friends mother after he passed away. In this letter, I discussed the significance her son had played in the lives of people in the school and community. I will remember her face the day she read it and the tears the streamed down her cheeks. Her son and my friend was a person that had changed a community for the better. It brought all the people of the community together and created new bonds and friendships. In this writing I wrote about specific memories of her son and the things that he did for us. I have never met a stronger child in my life than my friend Ryan. The way in which, he battled his cancer head on and did not change his personality throughout his entire struggle. It was one of the worst things I saw a person face and yet Ryan never looked down on his condition. He took it head on and taught me some great life lessons.

The writing of this letter made me so proud because it made me realize so many things in my life that I do not appreciate and I have learned to appreciate them. Thanks to this letter, I have learned a lot about myself as a person. It really made me proud that I was able to wrtie a letter that was able to move this woman and family in such away. It made proud to be able to touch their hearts.

Introduction

My name is Anthony Fanwick. I am currently a student at St John's University. I am currently an Accounting major, but I intend on going to law school. I would really like to become a real estate attorney like my unlce and I would really love to acquire a job at his firm. This is where I am currently in my life, but it took many years for me to come to this point in my life.

I was born on Decemeber 6, 1987, in New York. I have lived in the same house in Holbrook since I was born. I live with both of my parents. My father's name is Robert and he is a Suffolk County Police Officer in the Canine unit. He has been on the job for 24 years. My mothers name is Susan and she works as a Secretary for the Superintendent of Center Moriches Schools. I also have a brother named Vincent. Vincent is two years younger than me and is enrolled in Sachem East High School.

Before coming to St John's, I attended Sachem East High School. I graduated with 652 children. Many people do not like the size of my school district saying it was too, large and that children cannot possibly get a good education. I strongly disagree with this because the school was on a very personal level and also it made our athletic teams very strong. While in high school I played both varsity soccer and varsity tennis. In 2004, my soccer team won the Suffolk County Championship and this would be one of the greatest feelings of my life. That team was like a bunch of brothers that knew how to have fun, but when it was time to play there was no goofing around. From our best to our worst player everyone contributed equally. There was no better feeling then piling on each other after scoring a golden goal in the second overtime of the county championship game. We just piled on and celebrated for 10 minutes and nothing can top that feeling. My varsity tennis career was awesome as well. I did not begin to play tennis until I was in tenth grade, in tenth grade I only played in a few matches because I was not able to work my way into the starting line up due to my inexperience. In eleventh grade I played junior varsity again but I started every match at first single and I recorded a record of 12-1. In my senior year I teamed up with my best friend Dom to play first doubles on varsity tennis. Dom and I recorded a record of 14-2 and received all league and all county honors. This was one the greatest accomplishments to me. I never expected to win while playing tennis. I just picked it up for fun.

In my life basically sports, family and friends have made the person I am today and I am very thankful for that.

This blog is kind of intresting to me. I do not really know how to use it properly yet, but I am working on it. It is fun to write freely with out worrying about things. This blog seems like it will be a good place to start writing freely. I have always wanted to, but just never figured it out. I am glad that we are doing this in class.
